Overlanding in Sedona, AZ

Rita Roams

When we went to the spring 2019 Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, AZ we knew we wanted to also take our Jeep “Rubi” down into Sedona and do some off-roading. So when some of our RVer friends who were also at the expo suggested it, we were a huge YES!

On the last day of the expo, we drove down with a group of much more experienced off-roaders (who we’re lucky we get to call friends) and took to the trails. Even our two dogs AND two cats went off-roading with us. You’ll see pics of Jack who seemed to have a blast. (Not so much fun for Skye though.)

Following the “pros” onto the trail
We met Eric and Jeanette in Moab, UT when they led a group of newbie off-roaders on a trail
The views on this trail lead to the famous Camel Rock
We never thought we’d see the day when we could traverse some of these off-road trails
Val’s brother visiting Sedona for the first time. He was blown away!
This obstacle was much scarier in person! In fact, we didn’t do it. You can see the Pink Jeep tour in the background.

It was REALLY cold (it even snowed up in Flagstaff this same day). But we had to take an obligatory “we were here” selfie. With little Bella who was freezing.
If you’ve never taken the scenic drive from Flagstaff to Sedona, it’s a MUST SEE. Truly one of the most beautiful drives in the US.

When we first decided to travel full-time and get an RV, I asked Val “Where do you want to go first?” His answer? Sedona.

We were just amazed by how magical the landscape is there. Before we purchased our Jeep, we even went on a Pink Jeep Tour here that was like nothing we had ever seen.

So it was a full circle for us to visit again, in our OWN Jeep, doing the same trail we did back then. And with some of our favorite people.

We can’t wait to go back to Sedona and off-road again!
