This evening my husband and I took advantage of this gorgeous Texas hill country evening and drove over to the marina in Canyon Lake located just a few minutes from our RV campground. We discovered the Baja BBQ Shack, a casual dining cafe that overlooks the marina and lake.
On this spring Wednesday night, the place wasn’t busy at all, but still had some life so it felt like we found a hidden gem. But with all the available seating, I’m sure it gets much busier during the weekends and summer.
The menu was basic with BBQ plates, some tex-mex dishes, and a full-bar. Affordable comfort food that wasn’t anything particularly special, but worth every cent as you enjoy the beautiful views. I don’t drink beer (often) but this place just felt like where I should enjoy one so I ordered a Shiner while Val had his typical sweet tea.
We arrived at the perfect time: right before the sun was setting.
We weren’t very hungry so ordered a simple salad and their brisket deluxe nachos. The portions were large (the nachos was the small order, even) and we definitely had left-overs.
This outdoor bar area has a stage where they host live music too.
I hope we can make it back here before we leave the area and maybe actually try out their BBQ brisket. The reviews I’ve read make it sound like it’s worth the trip. The views sure are.
